Look for its brilliant green back and wings as it forages on the forest floor. It is often solitary and can be quite shy, so patience and quiet movement are beneficial. Listen for its soft, deep cooing calls.

Most active during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early morning and late afternoon, foraging on the ground. Can be observed year-round.
