Found across various islands in the Moluccas (Maluku Islands) of Indonesia, inhabiting lowland and hill tropical forests, from primary growth to disturbed secondary habitats.

Look for its large size and characteristic cinnamon underparts. Scan the forest canopy, especially around fruiting trees. Listen for its deep, booming calls which are a good indicator of its presence.

Present throughout the year. Best observed during early mornings and late afternoons when they are most active, or when congregating at specific fruiting trees.
