Where to spot
Lowland humid evergreen forests and mature secondary forests across Southeast Asia, including the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and Java.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and canopy, often near water. Listen for its distinctive, often rapid and whistled calls. Its vibrant colors make it a joy to observe.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon.
The Banded Broadbill is known for its remarkable nest-building skills, constructing large, elaborate hanging nests, often decorated with moss and leaves.
