Found across the Sahel region of Africa, from Mauritania to Eritrea, and extending into the Arabian Peninsula. It prefers open grasslands, savannas, cultivated fields, and thornbush scrub.
How to spot
Scan wide, open plains and savannas. Look for its large size and upright posture. Arabian Bustards are often solitary or in small groups. They can be shy, so observing from a distance with binoculars or a scope is recommended.
When to spot
Year-round resident within its range. Best observed during the cooler parts of the day, typically early morning or late afternoon, when they are most active. Breeding activity peaks during the rainy season.
