The Dusky Flycatcher (*Muscicapa adusta*) is a widespread and common African flycatcher. It is a small, rather drab bird, uniformly dark brown or dusky grey above, with a paler, sometimes faintly streaked, belly.
Where to spot
Widespread across sub-Saharan Africa, inhabiting a variety of wooded habitats, including forests, woodlands, forest edges, savannas with scattered trees, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for its dusky uniform plumage and upright posture. Watch for its characteristic flycatching behavior from an exposed perch. Listen for its thin, high-pitched 'tsee' or 'tsip' calls.
