Where to spot
Humid lowland and montane forests, forest edges, and dense gardens across Sri Lanka.
How to spot
Listen for its persistent, rhythmic 'pok-pok-pok' calls. Look for its bright colors in fruiting trees or on exposed branches, particularly the yellow forehead and blue face.
When to spot
Year-round; most active and vocal during the breeding season (around December to September). Best observed in the early morning.
The Yellow-fronted Barbet is considered sacred in some local traditions in Sri Lanka, revered for its beauty and the role it plays in the forest.
