The Chinese Barbet is a medium-sized Asian barbet, predominantly green with a yellow and blue head, and red markings around its eye. It is found in broadleaf forests.
Where to spot
Broadleaf evergreen and deciduous forests, forest edges, and cultivated areas with scattered trees in southeastern China and northern Vietnam.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, repetitive calls, often described as 'too-took'. Scan the mid to upper canopy for its green body and colorful head.
When to spot
Year-round; most vocal during the breeding season (around April to July). Active in the morning.
