The Flame-fronted Sunbird is a vibrant species from the Philippines, with males displaying brilliant iridescent green, blue, and a distinctive fiery orange-red forehead patch. It inhabits montane forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Philippines, particularly found in montane forests on Luzon and Mindanao and some nearby islands.
How to spot
Requires dedicated searching in montane forest habitats. The fiery forehead patch is the most distinctive feature. Listen for its high-pitched calls.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during morning and late afternoon foraging bouts. Look for it around flowering plants and trees in high-altitude areas.
