Gould's Sunbird is a magnificent species from the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, with males showcasing brilliant iridescent green, blue, yellow, and a prominent red breast band. It has long tail streamers.
Where to spot
Found in the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, including Bhutan, Nepal, India, China, Thailand, and Myanmar, inhabiting temperate and subtropical montane forests.
How to spot
Look for its vibrant colors and long tail streamers as it feeds on nectar in flowering trees. Its distinctive calls and acrobatic feeding style are good indicators of its presence.
When to spot
Active year-round, though some populations may undertake altitudinal migrations. Best observed during flowering seasons, particularly in the mornings.
