Temminck's Sunbird is a widespread and colorful species in Southeast Asia. Males feature iridescent green, blue, and a prominent red breast band. It is a common visitor to gardens and forests.
Where to spot
Found across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines, inhabiting forests, woodlands, plantations, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for its brilliant colors, especially the red breast band, as it feeds on nectar. Its high-pitched calls and rapid song are good identifiers. Often seen in gardens.
When to spot
Active throughout the year. Most visible during morning and late afternoon. Easily observed at flowering plants and nectar feeders.
Named after Coenraad Jacob Temminck, a Dutch zoologist, this sunbird is a common and easily recognized species throughout much of its Southeast Asian range.
