Widespread across Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (Sumatra, Borneo), and Brunei, inhabiting primary and secondary forests.
How to spot
Look for its long, curved bill and the distinctive pale eye-ring. It moves deliberately through the understory and mid-story. Listen for its loud, clear calls, often a repeated 'chup-chup'.
