Spotted
A small, short-tailed warbler with olive-green upperparts and a distinctive pale or whitish supercilium (eyebrow stripe) that gives it its name. Its underparts are generally pale greyish.
Where to spot
Montane forests, often in the understory or mid-strata, across East Africa, particularly in the Albertine Rift region (e.g., Rwanda, Uganda, DRC).
How to spot
Look for the distinct white supercilium. It is an active insectivore, constantly moving through foliage. Listen for its high-pitched, somewhat sibilant calls, often given in short bursts.
When to spot
Year-round resident, though seasonal movements may occur. Most active in the mornings. Breeding season activity is higher during specific regional rainy periods.
The White-browed Crombec is an altitudinal migrant in some parts of its range, moving between different elevations depending on the season and food availability.
