The Usambara Double-collared Sunbird is a species restricted to the fragmented Afromontane forests of Tanzania. Males exhibit iridescent green, blue, and a prominent red breast band.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Usambara Mountains in northeastern Tanzania, found in montane forests and forest edges.
How to spot
Requires focused searching within the Usambara mountain forests. Its iridescent plumage can be seen as it darts between flowering plants. Pay attention to specific local calls and songs.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during mornings when foraging activity is higher. Look for them during the local flowering seasons.
