A small, active leaf warbler easily recognized by its prominent double wing-bars. It breeds in coniferous and mixed forests across northeastern Asia.
Where to spot
Breeds in coniferous and mixed forests of northeastern Asia, including Siberia, northern China, and Korea. Winters in Southeast Asia, from southern China to Indochina and Thailand.
How to spot
Look for a greenish-grey warbler with striking double wing-bars (one broad, one narrower) and a long supercilium. Its legs are typically dark. Listen for its characteristic rapid, high-pitched trill song.
When to spot
Primarily observed during the breeding season (May-July) in its northern range, or during migration (April-May, September-October) as it passes through various habitats.
