Tickell's Leaf Warbler is a common and widespread species, identifiable by its dull olive-green upperparts, yellowish underparts, and a faint pale supercilium. It is an active bird of various wooded habitats.
Where to spot
Widespread across Central and South Asia, including the Himalayas and Indian subcontinent, extending into parts of Southeast Asia. Found in forests, open woodlands, scrub, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for active foraging in the mid-canopy and undergrowth. Observe its tail bobbing motion. Its 'chip-chip-chip' calls are quite distinctive.
When to spot
Year-round resident in many areas, with some populations undertaking altitudinal or short-distance migrations.
This warbler has a distinctive bouncing or bobbing tail motion while foraging, which can be a helpful identification cue.
