Spotted
The Yellow-bellied Green Pigeon is a vibrant species known for its bright green plumage contrasted with a distinct yellowish belly. It is an arboreal pigeon native to Indonesia.
Where to spot
Endemic to several islands in Indonesia, including Timor, Wetar, and other Lesser Sunda Islands, inhabiting monsoon forests, dry woodlands, and scattered trees in cultivated areas.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-to-upper canopy of fruiting trees. Its yellow belly, though sometimes obscured by its posture, is a key identification mark. Listen for its soft, drawn-out coos.
When to spot

Despite its bright coloration, this pigeon can be remarkably difficult to spot as it often perches motionless amidst the foliage, perfectly camouflaged by its green back.
