How to spot
Look for flocks flying high over the forest canopy or feeding in fruiting trees. Its large size and typical mountain-pigeon flight pattern are good indicators. Binoculars are helpful.
When to spot
Year-round, typically active during daylight hours, especially in the mornings and late afternoons.

It is sometimes considered a subspecies of the Papuan Mountain-Pigeon, but its distinct morphology and isolated island range increasingly support its status as a separate species, highlighting island endemism.
