Where to spot
Endemic to the Sula Islands, which include Mangole, Sanana, and Taliabu, located in eastern Indonesia.
How to spot
Search in primary and secondary lowland forests. Look for signs of disturbed earth or leaf litter, indicating mound-building activity. They are shy and blend well with their environment.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, such as early mornings and late afternoons.
Its very restricted geographic range makes it a sought-after species for birdwatchers specifically visiting the Sula Archipelago.
