The Plumbeous Flowerpiercer is a small, rather drab gray bird with a darker head and the characteristic hooked bill. It is endemic to the highlands of Costa Rica and Panama.
Where to spot
Highlands of Costa Rica and western Panama. Found in humid montane forests, forest edges, and scrub.
How to spot
Look for it actively probing flowers for nectar. Its uniform gray plumage and hooked bill are the key features.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active throughout the day, often visiting feeders.
