The Yellow-bellied Dacnis is a small, attractive tanager where males display a brilliant blue back and head with a contrasting bright yellow belly and black facial mask. Females are duller green and yellow.
Where to spot
Humid lowland and foothill forests of the Amazon Basin, found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.
How to spot
Look for it in mixed-species flocks in the mid-to-upper canopy. Males are quite colorful and often visit flowering plants.
