Where to spot
Confined to the Indus River floodplains and its tributaries in Pakistan, with small extensions into adjacent Afghanistan, Iran, and India. Found in reed beds, tamarisks, and dense scrub near water.
How to spot
Search for it along rivers and canals with extensive reed beds and tall grasses. It can be elusive, moving through dense vegetation, but males may perch conspicuously. Listen for its distinctive calls.

Year-round resident. Most active during the breeding season (spring/summer) when males are more vocal and visible.
