Bocage's Wagtail is a rare and localized wagtail species found on the island of São Tomé in the Gulf of Guinea. It is a forest-dwelling species, unusual for a wagtail.
Where to spot
Endemic to São Tomé island (Sao Tome and Principe) in the Gulf of Guinea. Found primarily in undisturbed primary rainforest and humid secondary forest, often near streams.
How to spot
Unlike most wagtails, it is found inside dense forest. Look for typical wagtail shape and tail bobbing. It can be elusive, but listen for its calls.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Observation requires dedicated searching in its specific forest habitat.
