Spotted
A medium-sized, entirely dull blackish-brown starling endemic to the remote island of Chuuk in Micronesia. It lacks the gloss of many other Aplonis.
Where to spot
Forests and disturbed woodlands on the island of Chuuk (Truk), Micronesia.
How to spot
Look for an entirely dull dark starling, often in the canopy or mid-story. Its uniform, non-glossy appearance and highly restricted range are key identifiers.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during daylight hours.
The Uniform Starling's remarkably plain plumage, lacking any strong iridescence, sets it apart from most other Aplonis species, giving it its common name.
