The Rusty Babbler is a distinctive species found in the dry, thorny scrublands of the Arabian Peninsula. It is characterized by its warm rufous-brown plumage, particularly on its underparts, and pale eye.
Where to spot
Found in the southern Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Yemen and Oman. Inhabits arid and semi-arid scrubland, wadis, and rocky hillsides with scattered bushes.
How to spot
Listen for its relatively quiet, chattering calls. Look for groups of rusty-brown birds moving through thorny bushes. Its rufous underparts and pale eye are key identification features.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active in the early morning and late afternoon. Often observed in small, active groups.
This species has adapted well to arid environments, often foraging for insects among the thorny bushes and acacia trees of deserts and semi-deserts.
