Where to spot
Endemic to Sulawesi, the Philippines, and some smaller surrounding islands in Indonesia.
How to spot
Scan the skies above forested areas, clearings, and coastal regions within its limited range. Look for its large size and the glossy, dark plumage, which may show a purplish sheen in good light. Pay attention to its distinct flight call.
