Spotted
The Tiny Greenbul is a very small and inconspicuous bulbul, characterized by its olive-green plumage and often a pale eye-ring. It is a shy inhabitant of dense forest undergrowth.
Where to spot
Found in East Africa, particularly in coastal and lowland forests, inhabiting the understory of dense primary and secondary forests.
How to spot
Look for its very small size and overall olive coloration. Listen for its high-pitched, thin calls. It can be very difficult to spot as it stays deep in tangled vegetation.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its resident tropical habitat. Most active during daylight hours, but its secretive nature makes observations challenging.
As its name suggests, this is one of the smallest greenbuls, allowing it to move nimbly through the densest parts of the forest understory, searching for insects and small fruits.
