Endemic to Pohnpei Island and some of its satellite islets in the Caroline Islands, Micronesia. It inhabits forests from coastal areas up to the highest elevations of the island.
How to spot
Scan the canopy of fruiting trees, particularly figs. Look for its pinkish-purple crown and undertail. Its call is a soft, low cooing. Patience is key as they can be inconspicuous despite their vibrant colors.

Observable year-round within its limited range. Best times for observation are early morning and late afternoon when foraging activity is highest in the fruit trees.
