The Himalayan Griffon is a massive Old World vulture found in the Himalayan region and Tibetan Plateau, one of the largest and heaviest birds of prey. It is a carrion eater, highly adapted to high altitudes.

High mountainous regions, cliffs, and plateaus of the Himalayas, Tibet, and central Asia.
How to spot
Look for its immense size, pale buffy-brown plumage, and prominent ruff. Often seen soaring majestically in mountain thermals, appearing as a huge, pale silhouette in the sky, or gathered at large carcasses.
When to spot
Year-round, active during daylight. Best seen soaring in high mountain valleys or around carcasses of large animals, especially during warmer parts of the day.
