How to spot
Listen for its characteristic hooting calls after dark. Spotting it requires patient searching with a spotlight in the dense tropical vegetation.
When to spot
Nocturnal. Best observed by listening for its calls during the night, particularly at dusk and dawn.
This owl's vocalizations are a prominent sound of the New Guinean jungle, often heard echoing through the dense canopy after dark.
