Where to spot
Humid lowland rainforests, often near rivers and streams, from southeastern Mexico south through Central America to northern Brazil.
How to spot
Listen for its deep, hooting calls, often a repeated 'hooo-hoo'. Spotting can be challenging in dense forest; use a powerful spotlight to scan the mid-story and canopy near water.
