Spotted
The Little Spiderhunter is one of the smallest spiderhunters, known for its small size, long decurved bill, and drab olive-green plumage with a yellowish belly. It is widespread in forests.
Where to spot
Widespread across South and Southeast Asia, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Inhabits forests, woodlands, and large gardens.
How to spot
Due to its small size and drab colors, it can be hard to spot. Look for its distinctive long, curved bill as it probes flowers or explores foliage. Listen for its rapid, high-pitched calls.
When to spot
Active throughout the year. Most visible during morning and late afternoon when foraging. Can be found near flowering plants or where spiders are abundant.

Despite its name, the Little Spiderhunter feeds primarily on nectar, using its long, specialized bill and brush-tipped tongue to probe deep into flowers, but will also take small insects and spiders.
