Spotted
The Mountain Fulvetta is a small, active babbler native to the mountainous regions of the Malay Peninsula. It is characterized by its plain olive-brown plumage and active foraging habits within mixed-species flocks.
Where to spot
Endemic to the mountainous regions of the Malay Peninsula (Malaysia and southern Thailand). Inhabits montane evergreen forests, typically at elevations above 900 meters.
How to spot
Listen for its high-pitched, chattering calls which can help locate active flocks. Look for small, fast-moving birds gleaning insects from the canopy and mid-story. Its relatively plain appearance requires a clear view for identification.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active in the cooler parts of the day, particularly early mornings, often as part of mixed-species foraging flocks.
This species is notable for its acrobatic foraging style, often seen hanging upside down to glean insects from the undersides of leaves and branches.
