The Fulvous Babbler is a common and distinctive species found in arid and semi-arid regions of North Africa and the Middle East. It is characterized by its warm sandy-brown or fulvous plumage, blending perfectly with desert environments.
Where to spot
Widespread across North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Inhabits arid plains, sandy deserts, rocky wadis, and scrubland with sparse vegetation.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, chattering calls, often given by the whole group. Look for groups of sandy-brown birds foraging on the ground. Its uniform fulvous coloration is a key identification feature.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early morning and late afternoon. Often observed in small to medium-sized noisy groups.
