Where to spot
Found throughout the Bismarck Archipelago and some islands off Papua New Guinea, including New Britain, New Ireland, and the Solomon Islands.
How to spot
Search the undergrowth of lowland and hill forests. Listen for its characteristic loud calls, which are often heard before the bird is seen, helping to locate this elusive species.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, particularly at dawn and dusk.
