Endemic to the Mangole and Taliabu islands within the Sula Archipelago of Indonesia. It typically inhabits primary and mature secondary lowland forests.

Look for movement high in the canopy of fruiting trees. While vibrant, its colors can blend surprisingly well with the dappled light of the forest. Listen for soft, cooing calls and use binoculars for identification.
