Endemic to the island of Luzon in the northern Philippines. Inhabits lowland and montane primary and secondary forests, often in dense undergrowth.
How to spot
Look for its prominent streaking on the breast and belly, and a rather plain face with a faint eye-ring. Often found in small, active flocks, moving through dense undergrowth. Listen for its chattering calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active during the day. Can be seen throughout the year.
