The Black-headed White-eye is a localized species found in the mountains of Tanzania. It is characterized by its prominent black head and prominent eye-ring.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Udzungwa Mountains and other isolated montane forests in Tanzania. Inhabits montane evergreen forests, often at higher elevations.
How to spot
Look for its distinct black head, contrasting with a prominent white eye-ring and yellowish-olive body. Often found in mixed-species flocks, foraging actively. Listen for its high-pitched, twittering calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during the day. Best observed during mornings in high-altitude forests.
