The Pemba White-eye is an endemic species to Pemba Island, off the coast of Tanzania. This small bird features a white eye-ring and bright yellow underparts, typical of many white-eyes.

Strictly endemic to Pemba Island, Tanzania, inhabiting forests, woodlands, and plantations.
How to spot
Search for small, active, yellow-bellied birds with a white eye-ring in the trees and shrubs. Listen for their typical high-pitched, warbling calls as they move in small flocks.
When to spot
Present year-round. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, especially mornings.
Being an island endemic, the Pemba White-eye plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem, including pollination and insect control, on its relatively small island home.
