Where to spot
Endemic to the coastal mangroves and associated wet thickets of eastern Brazil, from Alagoas south to Santa Catarina.
How to spot
Look for its small size and rufous belly in dense mangrove vegetation. It is highly elusive and best detected by its distinctive calls, which include a series of sharp, dry 'kek' notes or a rapid chatter.
