A relatively small swift with a prominent white rump and throat, often seen in large, noisy colonies. It is a highly social species.
Where to spot
Urban areas, cliffs, and open country across Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia, extending to India and Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Look for its smaller size, broad wings, and distinct white rump and throat patches. They often fly in tight, energetic groups, uttering high-pitched calls, especially around their colonial nesting sites.
When to spot
Year-round in most of its range, though some populations may be migratory depending on food availability. Active throughout the day.

Little Swifts are highly sociable and often nest in large, dense colonies on cliffs, buildings, and bridges, sometimes using the same nest sites for many years, leading to significant accumulations of nests.
