Spotted
The Kordofan Lark is a pale, ground-dwelling lark found in arid grasslands and semi-deserts of the Sahel region of Africa. Its plumage provides excellent camouflage.
Where to spot
Arid and semi-arid grasslands, open plains, and sparse acacia scrub in the Sahel region of Africa.
How to spot
Requires careful scanning of open, barren ground. Its cryptic plumage makes it challenging to spot, so look for subtle movements or listen for its calls.
When to spot
Observable year-round, most active during the cooler parts of the day.
This lark is highly adapted to its hot, dry environment, often found in areas with very sparse vegetation.
