Similar to its close relative, the Dunn's Lark, this species is a pale, unstreaked lark perfectly adapted to life in the vast, open Arabian deserts. It has a compact body and short tail.
Where to spot
Primarily found in the sandy and stony deserts of the Arabian Peninsula, including Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, and the UAE.
How to spot
Requires keen eyes to spot its camouflaged plumage against the desert floor. Listen for its unique, soft, and slightly mournful song, which differs from its African counterpart.
When to spot
Year-round resident in its desert habitat. Best observed during early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are milder.
