A medium-sized dark myna with a small frontal crest, pale yellow bill, and dark legs. It is native to Java but has been widely introduced across Southeast Asia.
Where to spot
Native to Java and Bali, Indonesia. Widely introduced and common in urban and cultivated areas across Singapore, Malaysia, and other parts of Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Look for its dark grey to black plumage, small frontal crest, and pale yellow bill. Often seen in large, noisy flocks in urban settings.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active and conspicuous throughout the day.
