Jameson's Antpecker is a tiny, secretive finch found in the forests of Central and East Africa. It is characterized by its duller brown plumage with fine barring on the belly, and a subtle reddish wash on the forehead in males.
Where to spot
Found in lowland and montane rainforests of Central and East Africa, including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of DR Congo. Prefers dense undergrowth.
How to spot
Extremely elusive. Look for small, dark birds moving quietly on the forest floor or in very low vegetation. Binoculars are essential for any chance of identification.
When to spot
Year-round. Observation is highly opportunistic, often when following ant swarms.
