The Solomon Islands Crow is a large, glossy black crow endemic to the Solomon Islands archipelago. It is a robust corvid, common in forested and semi-open habitats across its island range.

Endemic to the Solomon Islands, found on several islands within the archipelago, inhabiting lowland and montane forests, forest edges, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for a large, entirely black crow with a heavy bill in the Solomon Islands. Its typical crow calls are often a good indicator of its presence. Watch for it in the canopy or on forest edges.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during daylight hours. Can be observed foraging on the ground or flying over the canopy.
Similar to its New Caledonian relatives, this crow has shown evidence of basic tool-use, suggesting cognitive abilities that might be widespread in the Pacific island crows.
