Found in tropical regions from Costa Rica and Panama, through Colombia, to western Ecuador.

Scan the mid-story and understory of humid evergreen and semi-deciduous forests. Listen for their distinctive, often loud, 'chach-a-lac' calls, which are a hallmark of their presence.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active in the early morning and late afternoon when foraging and calling.
