The Grey-capped Social Weaver is a small, pale weaver bird with a distinctive grey cap. It is a highly social species, known for its communal breeding and roosting habits in arid savannas.
Where to spot
Found in eastern Africa, including parts of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Inhabits arid and semi-arid savannas and thornbush.
How to spot
Look for its pale plumage and distinct grey cap. They are typically seen in noisy flocks around their communal nests or foraging on the ground. Listen for their chattering calls.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Breeding activity is often tied to the rainy season, but birds are active and visible throughout the year.
