The Golden Bishop is a magnificent African weaver species. Breeding males are almost entirely golden-yellow, contrasting with black wings and tail.
Where to spot
Found in Angola and parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo, typically inhabiting moist grasslands, savannas, and cultivated areas, often near water.
How to spot
Search in tall grassy habitats. The male's brilliant golden coloration is unmistakable, especially when it perches prominently or performs its display flight.
When to spot
Most visible during the breeding season, which generally coincides with the local rainy season, when males are in their brilliant golden plumage.
