Endemic to the northern Philippines, particularly the islands of Luzon and Mindoro. Inhabits montane forests, often at higher elevations in primary growth areas.
How to spot
Due to its rarity and preference for dense montane forests, it is challenging to observe. Focus on the canopy of fruiting trees. Listen intently for its distinctive, resonant hooting calls which may be the only clue to its presence.
