Where to spot
Widespread across coastal and inland areas of Europe, North America, and parts of Asia. Found in diverse habitats including coastlines, estuaries, lakes, rivers, agricultural fields, landfills, and urban environments.
How to spot
Look for its large size, grey upperparts, black wingtips with white spots (mirrors), and a heavy yellow bill with a red spot on the lower mandible. Adults have pink legs. Distinguish from similar species by size, bill shape, and specific wingtip pattern.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round throughout most of its extensive range. Breeding occurs from spring to early summer.

Ik dacht eerst het is een stoormmeeuw, maar ik zie toch een zwarte ring rond de snabel en een grijze kop. Dus misschien de Ringsnavelmeeuw, maar ik heb gelezen dat deze eigenlijk alleen in noord amerika te vinden is. De voeten passen beter bij een zilvermeeuw, maar ze was niet zo groot.
